At
WSROC Group Apprentices we employ the apprentice/trainee and place
them with suitable Hosts, who are organisations responsible for
providing a work environment favourable to learning and skills development.
Our goal is to ensure the Australian Apprentice
successfully completes the on-the-job and off-the-job training requirements
relative to their qualification by providing mentoring and support
for both the apprentice and Hosts throughout the term of the training.
Overview of how WSROC Group Apprentices Works
Group Training is an arrangement where apprentices
and trainees are employed under a training contract by an organisation,
which manages the quality of their training and provides pastoral
care while they are placed with Hosts. WSROC Group Apprentices recruits
apprentices/trainees from school leavers, pre-vocational students
and jobseekers. Applicants undergo assessment to ensure they have
the commitment and aptitude to do the job applied for. Successful
applicants are employed and registered as apprentices/trainees with
WSROC Group Apprentices (WSROC GA). WSROC GA will provide a personal
support service through its Apprenticeship Support Managers.
WSROC GA identifies the Host who will take the
apprentice/trainee into their business for employment and training
purposes. When placed with the Host, apprentices/trainees will respond
directly to the supervision and instruction of their Host. The placement
period is negotiated between the parties. In some cases, apprentices/trainees
may stay with the Host for the full period of training; in others,
they may be rotated to another Host for further skills development
where the Host’s capacity to train is limited, for budget
purposes, or where the Host has irregular workloads.
The Host receives an invoice each week, recovering
some employment costs associated with the employment of of an apprentice
or trainee as listed below.
WSROC GA maintains the apprentices/trainees entitlements
and records including:
• Pay award based wages
• Sick leave
• Annual leave and leave loading
• Public holidays
• Rostered days off
• Workers compensation
• Superannuation
• PAYG tax
• Issuing Group Certificates
• TAFE Enrolement
The Host approves the apprentice’s/trainee’s
annual leave in accordance with their requirements.
